Pontchartrain – Date Night EP [WD051]
After working very closely with Whiskey Disco for years and becoming their official A&R rep, it’s a proud and long overdue moment to actually put out my first full EP on the label.
Each of these songs represents special places to me, and each of those nights inspired my selection and production process.
The first song is an edit of 2 Salsoul Orchestra tracks, and is a nod to my own personal date nights at Motor City Wine sipping my favorite Lambrusco on the patio, next to the open fire.
The second song is an edit of Brian Briggs and is representative of the many journies I take to Latin America. The track itself was made with the amazing sunrises of the Yucatan in mind, and used instruments collected from around the world to highlight the Briggs masterpiece, made famous by the Cosmic parties in Italy long ago.
The third song is an edit of Loi’s Body Contact, sourced from the original ultra-rare record. This has consistently been one of my favorite tracks to play at my residency at Temple Bar, which still holds the top spot in my heart as my favorite place to play records that make people sweat and lose themselves, and directly inspired my editing process with moments such as the 2 minute delayed farfisa solo before the reprise.
Lots and lots of work by myself in between. Edits should be something you’re proud to present as a new piece of work and I hope these do the originals justice.
